There’s a summer of fun here at Hampshire’s Top Attractions this July! Discover endless days out, events, and activities that the whole family will love all over, no matter where you are, you’ll find something full of fun for the family. Keep reading to discover just what’s on in July in Hampshire & the Isle of Wight!

Cars, planes, trains and motorbikes shows

July is a busy month at Beaulieu, with a bustling line-up of exciting events set to take place! Kicking things off, Saturday 6th July marks the first ever Beaulieu Bikers Day, with owners of all makes and models of motorcycles invited to take part. This is closely followed by Simply Land Rover on Sunday 7th July, a fantastic rally with the opportunity to put your Land Rover to the test on an off-road forest drive. Audi owners and enthusiasts can look forward to Simply Audi on Sunday 14th July whilst Simply Italian on Saturday 20th July will see everything from Fiats to Ferraris parked up in Beaulieu. Finally, rounding off a packed July, on Sunday 21st July the museum parkland will be filled with impressive Japanese motors for Simply Japanese.

Simply Italian at Beaulieu

Experience the sights and sounds of heritage diesel traction at The Watercress Line’s Diesel Gala between 12th – 14th July, ride behind the homefleet and exciting visiting locomotives such as Class 50 50008 ‘Thunderer’. Enjoy a thrilling brake van ride, find out more about current engineering projects on a workshop tour and much more. 

Feast your eyes on incredible vehicles, motorcycles, and aircraft at Wallop Wheels & Wings at the Army Flying Museum on Saturday 13th July. Enjoy family activities, tasty treats, music, living history, STEM activities and Forces charity and trader villages. Plus, see the Gazelle Squadron and RAF Falcons parachute display teams.

Get ready for Milestones Museum’s fantastic Morris Minor Car Club event on 7th July, commemorating classic cars and cherished memories, let’s celebrate the iconic Morris Minor together!

Family-friendly activities

Fiesta, an exciting mini children’s festival of curiosity, is back at Winchester Science Centre this summer. Olympics and Paralympics fever have taken over! Adventure outside to enjoy interactive activities like the Bug Olympics. And inside discover the science of us through hands-on fun and a brand new live science show.  

In July there is so much going on at Exbury. Throughout the summer holidays there are fun family workshops, donkey days, dragonfly talks and falconry days.  Also in July are two seasonal spotlight tours focussing on beautiful summer perennials, and a devoted to dogs day.

Join Birdworld at the end of July to see Hey Duggee and PAW Patrol for a unique opportunity for your kids to interact with their favourite characters. Remember these shows are included in your admission ticket at no extra cost!

Discover the world of John Burningham with a family-friendly exhibition and activities at Mottisfont from 20 July. You’ll find original illustrations the gallery, with comfy reading zones, giant scenes for family photos, and dressing up. Outside, a Burningham-themed trail weaves through Mottisfont’s gardens, with games and challenges to complete.

Make the most of the summer sun at Queen Elizabeth County Park this July. Explore their delightful Summer Makers Market on 14 July and spend the day savouring the flavours of the season, handmade wonders, and a warm community vibe. Or improve your cycling skills at CycleFest on 6 July.

Find out the history of Romans bringing bricks to Britain in the interactive summer trail at The Brickworks Museum summer trail. Activities and craft fun for the whole family!

On 13 July, spend the day with your four-legged friend at Lepe Country Park’s ‘Bark on the Beach’ dog show.

Also on 13th, Eling Tide Mill is hosting a Crabbing Conservation Event at Eling Quay. Participants are invited to join a population survey of shore-based crabs, with registration and instruction starting at 12:00 PM. The event costs £6 per adult and £3 per child, payable on the day. Attendees can either bring their own crabbing equipment or purchase it from the Tide Mill Shop. For further details, visitors are encouraged to scan the provided QR code or visit the Eling Tide Mill Experience website.

Outdoor adventures & sports 

Sail, kayak, or even windsurf on the Solent this July at Calshot Activities Centre.  Or, stay dry and enjoy an exciting Action Adventure Experience, with opportunities to tackle an obstacle courses six metres in the air, speed down the Slope in ringos, or scale the Take Off wall.

Catch Hampshire Hawks in the popular Vitality Blast, cheer for Southern Brave in The Hundred, support England Women on Saturday 6 July, and enjoy Hampshire’s return in the 50-over competition. Don’t miss out! Catch the action.

Southampton’s Steamship Shieldhall has a busy July, staging numerous trips including Music Cruises; Isle of Wight sailings; Cowes Week and Solent Fort Cruises. It’s access all areas on board, including the Engine Room and Bridge; there’s free parking close to the ship and food and drink available! 

Head out into the New Forest this July! Rent bikes from Cyclexperience and explore the forest in the best way possible. With bikes for all ages and abilities it’s the perfect activity to do with friends or family! Get everyone together and book now 

Free entry and entertainment

The Watercress Line is hosting over 80 artists from leading local art societies who will spend a weekend painting ‘en plein air’ at Art On The Line, 20th – 21st July. Visit each station where you can admire them at work and chat to them about the scenes they are depicting in a range of media.

Join family and friends and picnic in picturesque surroundings to celebrate Gilbert White’s birthday with a day of free admission on the 20th July between 10:30 and 17:00. Explore beautiful gardens and landscapes and an atmospheric historic house and discover the Oates Collections. 

Hat Fair is a free, family-friendly festival that takes over Winchester city centre each summer with bright and colourful street theatre, circus, comedy, dance, music and more and this year is extra special as Hat Fair celebrates its 50th birthday! Featuring national and international acts, community performances and a Carnival, the festival will run from Friday 05 – Sunday 07 July.  

Animal Days out in Hampshire

A haven for animals large and small, there are over 250 different creatures to see at the New Forest Wildlife Park. From the smallest harvest mice to the mighty European bison, visitors are greeted by an incredible selection of inquisitive creatures. Designed for kids and adults who are young at heart, the New Forest Wildlife Parks’ Go Wild adventure playgrounds are the perfect place to blow off steam and develop your skills.

Hawk Conservancy Trust

Summer is fantastic for watching the birds of prey at the Hawk Conservancy Trust soar up high. Enjoy an evening watching their birds fly against a setting sun at Sunset at the Trust. Or, bring your nature-loving little ones for a wild day out at their Big Wild Weekend!

History and Heritage activities

You won’t want to miss out on Milestones Museums’s fun Field to Fork event starting at the end of July, enjoy exploring the journey from field to table! 

Discover the past at Winter Quarters at Aldershot Military Museum this July! Witness the 2nd Queen’s Royal Regiment of Foot parading in Napoleonic costumes, and watch them fire their historic weapons at 2pm. Get ready for a spectacular show and a day of excitement!

Go for a walk with a difference in July and join the Titanic Walking Tour, starting from Tudor House and Garden. Step back to the Southampton of 1912 by joining Titanic expert Andy Skinner in walking the sites and places of the Titanic story, including South Western House and Canute Chambers, and discover the stories of the men and women who lived there. Other walking tours are available.

Join Jane Austen’s House for a host of exclusive events in July. With everything from special tours, late openings with pizza and prosecco, fascinating talks to books clubs and dressing up – yes, their annual Dress Up Day is back! – there’s plenty to enjoy and get involved in this July! 

Theatre and Shows

Visit Staunton Country Park on Sunday 21 July to enjoy a summer’s afternoon delightful new adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s much-loved tale: The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck. So, book your tickets, pack a picnic, and get ready to spend a summer’s afternoon with your family.

Join UK Fleetwood Mac at Gilbert White’s House for a wonderful night of your favourite 70s classics, with hits from Dreams to The Chain you’ll be singing Don’t Stop before you know it! Grab your dancing shoes and get ready for the party of a lifetime at Gilbert White’s House and Gardens.

At MAST Mayflower Studios, Mayflower Young Company performs a contemporary spin on Sophocles’ gripping classic, Antigone. Tribute acts take over Studio 1 this month, with Johnny Cash Roadshow, The Bon Jovi Experience, Buddy Holly and the Cricketers and Luther Live. Zog and the Flying Doctors are back with their roar-some crew for a brand-new adventure. Based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s bestselling sequel, Freckle Productions bring the creative team back together for this truly modern take on the classic fairy tale.

Theatre Royal Winchester’s July is packed with family-friendly entertainment including Total Pop Party (20 July) – a perfect intro to concerts for younger ones; Horrible Histories: Rotten Royals (21 July) – ‘history with the nasty bits left in!’; Mr Toad (26 – 28 July) – based on the classic, Wind in the Willows – with a post-show meet and greet with the puppets; and magic from Britain’s Got Talent’s Cillian O’Connor (30 July). 

July is all about dance at New Theatre Royal Portsmouth as many dance schools choose the stage to have their annual summer showcases. On this theme, every Wednesday in July, you can see a film screening of a musical that’s chosen for its fantastic choreography and classic well-known songs. See the July film programme here. If you want to be a Dancing Queen yourself, you can come to Thank You for the Music, an ABBA tribute on 5th July.
