Celebrated tribute band, The Goldhawks, mark the 50th anniversary of The Who’s ground-breaking rock opera, Tommy, at Theatre Royal Winchester, on Sunday 10 November.
This brand new production, The Goldhawks perform Tommy – the album, LIVE! sees the world-class rock band perform Tommy – the story of a ‘deaf, dumb and blind’ boy who became a pinball champion – backed by amazing projection and effects.
Replicating The Who’s sound perfectly, the nine-piece band are acclaimed as the world’s number one tribute to The Who and have received accolades from friends and family of The Who.
Tommy was the fourth studio album by The Who and first released as a double album in May 1969, it reached #2 in the UK charts and has since sold 20 million copies. Also included in the Grammy Hall of Fame, in 1972 there followed two concert performances of Tommy featuring The Who backed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Then three years later the album was adapted in to a film, while in 1992 a Broadway musical was developed.
This special show follows continued public demand after the band’s smash hit tour of Quadrophenia – another rock opera by The Who – and closes with all-time classics from the legendary band.
