Enjoy a Easter Egg hunt with a twist with New Forest Activities! Set sail in a stable Canadian-style canoe, taking in stunning scenery and spotting wildlife, before disembarking for an egg-citing Easter Egg hunt!

Hampshire Easter Events & Activities

Easter is just around the corner and although we are all hoping for some sunshine, it’s good to have some weather-proof plans. SeaCity Museum and Tudor House and Garden in Southampton are hosting some brilliant Easter activities to keep creative minds busy. From art clubs to ghost hunts and fabric printing an egg hunt bag. There is something for everyone. 

Something special comes to the Royal Logistic Corps Museum as they host their first ever event using LEGO? bricks. Join them Tuesday-Saturday from 9.30 to 4pm throughout the Easter holidays to take on their brick-busting logistic challenges. Entrance is FREE

During the Easter holidays from 28 March – 12 April, visitors to Beaulieu will be among the first to see the transformed entrance to the National Motor Museum, as well as brand-new gallery Driven: Britain’s Motoring Story! Plus, explore the exciting car-themed Top Trumps trail, meet friendly living history, and it’s your LAST CHANCE to see Disney and Pixar Cars!

The D-Day Story in Portsmouth has lots going on this Easter. From its Wings, Wheels and Waves family trail and craft activities to The Discovery Hub with objects from the museum’s handling collections, archive material, uniforms to try on and toys and games for under 5s there is something for all the family.

The 2026 cricket season begins at Utilita Bowl across the Easter weekend as Hampshire host Essex in the Rothesay County Championship from Friday 3 to Monday 6 April. The fixture marks the first opportunity for supporters to watch Hampshire at home this summer, with the venue opening its gates for the start of another season of county cricket. A large County Championship crowd attended last year’s season opener against Yorkshire, played in warm spring sunshine, and another strong turnout is expected as fans return to Utilita Bowl to celebrate the start of the new campaign.

Things to do in Hampshire this April

Visit Exbury Gardens this April as the gardens burst into life. A spring spectacle of countless rhododendrons and azaleas; towering magnolias brightening the skyline and spectacular camellias. No visit to Exbury would be complete without the thrill of a real steam train ride, so climb aboard at Exbury Central for a relaxing twenty-minute journey.

The Remarkable Ben Hart (Sun 26) is the brand-new mind-bending theatrical experience from Winchester’s own master of illusion.

The Spring Steam Gala taking place on 24th – 26th April 2026 at The Watercress Line is a ‘steam-packed’ three day event. It’s a chance to see and ride behind special guest engines as well as their home-fleet locomotives. Explore all of their heritage stations along the 10 mile line, get up close to some of their locomotives, find out more about their restoration projects and enjoy guided tours and various exhibits.

Springtime in the New Forest is ideal for getting outdoors, with blossom on the trees and miles of peaceful forest tracks to explore. Cyclexperience offers bikes for all ages, a large on-site car park and direct access to the trails, with over 30 years’ experience making forest adventures easy and enjoyable.

Set sail this spring as River Cruises return to Buckler’s Hard in time for Easter. Enjoy fresh air, wildlife spotting and stories of Buckler’s Hard on daily sailings. Explore riverside walks, free village entry and wide open spaces where kids can play, wander and wave at passing boats.

Visit The Gurkha Museum this April. Forged in Steel is a free temporary exhibition exploring bladed weapons and Gurkha heritage, open daily 10am–4pm. On 31 March (11am–4pm), Jungle Engineers offers a free family activity day with hands-on challenges inspired by Gurkha history. Then on 24 April (12:30–2pm), join the monthly Gurkha Curry Lunch for Nepali food and culture.

Easter at Theatre Royal Winchester begins with Michael Morpurgo’s Farm Boy – the sequel to War Horse (Tue 08 – Wed 09 April); Taylor Swift fans are invited to a Tribute (Thu 10 April); your bonkers ideas are turned into musical adventures thanks to the Olivier-award winning West End improvisers, The Showstoppers (Sat 12 April, kid and family shows); The Amazing Bubble Man is back (Sun 13 April); and meet everyone’s favourite colourful elephant in The Elmer Adventure (Tue 15 – Thu 17 April).

Cricket is back! Hampshire Cricket returns on Friday 4th April, facing Yorkshire men in a first-class opener, before Hampshire Women begin their historic first season succeeding the Southern Vipers on Wednesday 23rd April. At Mayflower Studios, Titanic the Musical: Film Screening is in Studio 1. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now. WNO returns with Britten’s iconic opera, Peter Grimes. VE Day 80th anniversary

Join the RLC Museum in celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day this Easter holiday. See the Museum decorated with bunting made by local school children and make your own bunting flag to add to the display. The Museum has free entry, free parking and lots of hands-on activities.

Hurst Castle is hosting a VE Day 80th anniversary event this Easter. Families can enjoy a themed historical trail and arts & crafts. A ferry ride from Keyhaven starts the visit. All activities are included with admission.
