The summer starts with the children’s summer trail around the Cathedral. Families will step into history and discover medieval Queens, deep divers, pilgrims, and hidden creatures on the summer trail at Winchester Cathedral. Children will engage in a range of exciting activities while exploring the Cathedral’s magnificent surroundings. Pick up a trail from the Welcome Desk for £2.00, and leave with a sticker and pencil as part of the experience. This trail is recommended for children aged 7-11 and will be available from 22nd July to 21st August.
Next is “The Secret Garden” outdoor theatre on Saturday 29th July at 6.00pm. Taking you on a journey through the enchanting world of “The Secret Garden” presented by Chapterhouse Theatre company. Picnic in historic surroundings as you lose yourself in this tale of secrecy and curiosity. Join family and friends for what promises to be the most splendid evening of the summer. Throughout August children’s summer craft workshops are available for families to get creative with fun and educational hands-on activities. From Tudors to Victorians, your child’s creativity will shine through during this hour-long crafting where they will create their own unique souvenirs to take home. At the end of the session there’s a story time, too. With a different theme each week children can keep coming back for something new! Most suitable for children aged 3-11. Pre-booking is essential to secure a spot. Workshops take place in the Cathedral’s historic Undercroft.
Also throughout August are summer family tours where families will embark on a tailored tour of Winchester Cathedral designed especially for children and families.
