Outdoor activities in Hampshire this September
The iconic International Autojumble is back for 2023! Head to Beaulieu on September 2nd and 3rd for the biggest outdoor sale of motoring items this side of the Atlantic. The big weekend of automotive enjoyment will bring together all manner of motoring spares, automobilia and historic vehicles for sale, with hundreds of stands to browse.

Sail over to Cowes on Red Funnel’s Red Jet over the weekend of 9-10 September for a flavoursome family day out at a brand new food festival, The Great Wight Bite. Kids will love getting hands-on in the Little Chef’s Den, while grown-ups can sample the Island’s finest artisan food and drink offerings!
Join in the dog show at Gilbert White’s House & Gardens on September 10th. The perfect day out for owners and their pooches, with classes and more! South Downs National Park will be running the obstacle course as part of their ‘Take the Lead’ campaign.
Enjoy a fun day at the Watercress Line: Experience unlimited steam train rides through the beautiful Hampshire countryside, explore the playground, visit the footbridge used in Harry Potter films and relax in the picnic areas at our heritage stations. On September 24th the Brickworks Museum have its annual Trains Take Over event when the Museum’s engines will be in steam and you can ride the rails.

Live Shows in Hampshire this September
Crimes on Centre Court comes to New Theatre Royal Portsmouth this September, a hilarious whodunnit play with quick changes and quicker wits. Expect mirth, murder and mayhem, with a side of tennis. Also at New Theatre Royal, Ukrainian Choirs from Havant, Petersfield and Portsmouth come together on the stage, performing to raise money for the crisis in Ukraine.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s iconic The Dark Side of the Moon album at Winchester Science Centre. Fly through the Solar System and zoom through the stars! Breath-taking Planetarium visuals bring to life the sounds of the legendary rock band.
Join Tapnell Farm Park to infinity and beyond for Space Weekend, 16th & 17th September! Be blown away by the Rocket Show, build and launch your own rockets at the compressed air rocket workshops and discover more spectacular space entertainment! As well as the usual Farm Park Fun!
There’s lots to see and join in with at Theatre Royal Winchester; On 8th, Priscilla Queen of the Disaster is a ‘brutally honest’ look at being a mum and as a Pick Your Price show, parents and other adults can enjoy it from as little as £6. Babies and little children welcome at the matinee. Meet Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking on 10th Sept, where nine-year-old Pippi who is strong, brave and fearless, brings mischief, chaos and confusion to an ordinary and traditional town. Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain NEW! visits on 16th and 17th as the hit West End show but packed with brand-new crazy characters and rude rulers from throughout history. Splash Test Dummies, a beach-themed circus show 23rd and 24th.
Heritage Open Days in Hampshire 2023
History-lovers will have the rare chance to see behind the scenes at Fort Nelson as part of a free Heritage Open Days event. Two areas not usually open to the public – the Victorian Officers Quarters and the West Tunnel – will be open on September 9 and 10. Special tours will be given but numbers are limited so book in advance.
Visit the Brickworks Museum for FREE in honour of Heritage Open Days on September 13th and 14th.
Attention Winchester! The Big Day Out at Winchester’s Military Museums – free entry to all museums on 16th September, 10:00-16:00 with performances from 11am onwards including live music from a military band, a range of re-enactors; museum displays, including object identification; family activities & crafts; food & drink stalls, raffles & more.
