See through the needle’s eye at Whitchurch Silk Mill!

January 16, 2020

Come and take a look through the needle’s eye in the heart of quaint Hampshire town, Whitchurch. This January, Whitchurch Silk Mill introduces a brand-new exhibition which celebrates the excellence and diversity of stitched textiles, allowing you to discover a whole new world of creation. Produced by members of the Basingstoke Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, this exhibition shines a light on the work of novice embroiderers to embroidery experts and professionals.

On display will be a copy by Jan Messent of her Bayeux Tapestry Finale. This is the missing end section designed and embroidered by the artist herself. There is also a silent auction on selected pieces and there is even a chance to purchase works to take home for yourself.

Member of the Basingstoke Embroiderers Guild members will be demonstrating on various days throughout the exhibition. The Embroiderers’ Guild is an internationally recognised textile community with the Basingstoke branch being one of 150 scattered over many countries. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10.30am to 5.0pm and is free with Mill Admission. Please get in touch on 01256 892065 or email info@whitchurchsilkmill.org.uk prior to your visit to confirm demonstration dates.
