On Saturday 19 May we will be celebrating the marriage of HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by livestreaming their wedding ceremony in the cathedral at an event for all the family.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the ceremony in the cathedrals’ magnificent nave from 12noon – 1.00pm but celebrations will continue until 5.00pm in the historic Outer Close with activities for the whole family to enjoy. Activities will include Morris dancing, a bouncy cathedral and pop-up stalls provided by local churches.

There will also be an opportunity to write a prayer for the happy couple on bunting that will be hung around the close. There will also be prayer stations and spaces for quiet reflection available around the cathedral throughout the day. Visitors are encouraged to join in with the festival atmosphere by bringing a picnic to eat, but street food provided by the Cathedral Refectory will also be available.

This celebration is being held as part of Thy Kingdom Come, a nine day event of prayer being held by churches globally. Thy Kingdom Come marks the days between Ascension and Pentecost and many events are being held by churches across the country from 10 May to 19 May to celebrate the occasion.

Free tickets for the screening of the royal wedding will be available from the Cathedral Box Office; 01962 857275 or www.winchester-cathedral.org.uk.
