Step back in history at Gilbert White’s House & Garden and celebrate the lives of three explorers of the natural world – Gilbert White, Frank Oates and Lawrence Oates. The house is surrounded by 25 acres of majestic restored garden and parkland. Queen Elizabeth County Park offer a Back-to-Basics campsite at Coney Acres, nestled in a quiet corner at the base of Butser Hill. Perfect for a family weekend without the frills, or for people tackling the South Downs Way. So you also have Laser Squad – Laser Tag right on your doorstep for some healthly competition and Butser Ancient Farm is not far away to explore ancient building and farming.

You can’t get much closer to Calshot Activities Centre, one of the largest outdoor activity centres in the UK than it’s very own campsite! Providing short stay camping for caravans, motorhomes and tents. An ideal base to explore the New Forest, enjoy watersports, tour the Tudor castle.

Campsites and Holiday Parks Near The New Forest

New Forest Activities offer a great range of activities for families of all ages to enjoy time in the great outdoors together. You’ll find them in the quaint village of Beaulieu in the New Forest. Their five-star guided canoeing and kayaking tours take place on the stunning Beaulieu River, home to an array of wildlife and picturesque views. If you’d rather stay on land, their archery sessions allow you to test your aim with a bow and arrow and learn the history of the ancient sport in a serene woodland setting. Plus, they’re close to Roundhill Campsite and only a short drive away from the Lepe Beach Camping site! 

Cyclexperience is located in the heart of the New Forest with easy access to all cycle trails. Situated in Brockenhurst, the centre is incredibly close to plenty of camping and caravanning sites. Places within a 5 mile walking distance include Hollands Woods, Long Meadow Campsite, Roundhill Campsite, Aldridge Hill Caravan Park and Setthorns Campsite. So why not save the trouble of packing your own bikes and hire from Cyclexperience!

Approx. 3 miles from the Ashurst Campsite is Longdown Activity Farm and Farm Shop is a brilliant day out for the family. There are hands-on activities to enjoy throughout the day which include bottle-feeding the kid goats and calves, and small animal encounter. There is lots of playtime fun to be enjoyed including the Piglets Play Barn, trampolines, go-karts, and outdoor play area. Don’t miss the tractor and trailer ride – it’s very bumpy! As you depart, call into the Farm Shop where they sell a large range of delicious locally sourced food, a wonderful taste of Hampshire.

Close to Ashurst Campsite is the New Forest Wildlife Park which is home to over 260 animals representing 40 species both native and from other parts of the world.

Isle of Wight Caravan and Holiday Parks
