Summer of fun at Fort Nelson
Royal Armouries Fort Nelson

An action-packed summer of fun awaits visitors to Fort Nelson, with barrel-loads of children’s activities, including an exciting assault course and a new ‘Action Stations’ interactive trail.
History will be brought to life with costumed characters appearing every weekend to recount tales about life at the Fort from Victorian times through to the Second World War.
Summer activities will run daily and as a national museum admission is to the Fort is free. Booking in advance is advised during the school holidays.
Also free are our children’s activities, including the ‘Action Stations’ trail and ever-popular sandbag maze, plus two daily museum tours at 11.30am and 2.30pm which can be booked on arrival, and the History Live! themed weekends.
There is so much to do and see for free at this massive Victorian Fort; with over 19 acres, the main tunnel, ramparts and outdoor space to explore, as well as a whole museum of treasures to discover.
And if that wasn’t enough to keep the kids entertained there’s always the challenge of the junior assault course. Suitable for ages 3 –14, tickets cost £4.50 – book in advance.
