Free Talk: Archaeoastronomy

Butser Ancient Farm

Date: 17/08/2017 - 17/08/2017
Time: 7.30pm
Price: Range from FREE

Join us for the fourth in our summer series of FREE talks at Butser Ancient Farm. Dave Woods from HantsAstro will be taking us through time and space to explore the history of the night sky. While places are free, we are only able to reserve a limited number of seats.

HantsAstro is a group concept founded by two amateur astronomers, David Woods and Graham Green – who started the group back in March 2008. They wanted to do more ‘Modern Astronomy’ and wanted to learn using their own telescopes. They have since become the largest observing/imaging group in Hampshire, and one of the largest in the UK. Their exploits are also followed by over 100 countries via this site, their publications and through social media. They regularly meet at Buster Ancient Farm to watch the night sky, as the farm is one of the darkest locations in the South Downs National Park.

There will be five FREE talks throughout the summer on a Thursday evening. Doors open at 7.30 with the talk to start at 8.00. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be available to purchase in the shop.
