Children's Summer Activities

Winchester Cathedral

Join the Winchester Cathedral Learning Team for an hour of arts and crafts, followed by an exploration around the cathedral as you follow the ‘Amazing Animals’ trail.

Taking place every Monday, each week’s craft activity will have a brand new animal theme.

At the end of the session you’ll have made your own souvenir and completed the Amazing Animals trail, exploring the different animals dotted around the cathedral.

Important information:
Children must be accompanied by an adult – there is a limit of 3 children per adult.
Please note that adults accompanying children are required to purchase a £3 adult ticket for themselves.

Week 1, 18th July – Lions in the cathedral.

At the end of this session you will have made a lion finger puppet.

Suitable for ages 3-7.

Session 1 – 9.30 – 10.30
Session 2 – 10.45 – 11.45
Session 3 – 1.00 – 2.00
Session 4 – 2.15 – 3.15

 

Week 2, 25th July – Fish in the cathedral.

At the end of this session you will have heard a story about the rainbow fish and made a rainbow fish from paper and felt.

Suitable for ages 3-7.

Session 2 – 10.45 – 11.45
Session 3 – 1.00 – 2.00
Session 4 – 2.15 – 3.15

 

Week 3, 1st August – Monkeys in the cathedral.

At the end of this session you will have made a scene with fingerprint monkeys hanging from a tree.

Suitable for ages 3-7.

Week 4, 8th August – Unicorns in the cathedral.

At the end of this session you will have made a unicorn with a colourful mane.

Suitable for ages 3-7.

Week 5, 15th August – Dragons (or Wyverns) in the cathedral

At the end of this session you will have made a dragon mask.

Suitable for ages 5-11.

Session 4 – 2.15 – 3.15

 

Week 6, 22nd August – Hedgehogs in the cathedral

At the end of this session you will have made a hedgehog using clay and spaghetti.

Suitable for ages 3-7.

Please note that on this date organ tuning will be taking place at the cathedral, which can be a little noisy at times.

There are a limited number of places for each session so please book as early as you can to avoid any disappointment.
