Calling all minibeast detectives, plant enthusiasts and nature lovers! We need your help at our annual Bioblitz on Saturday 26 June when we will be discovering all of the insects, plants, birds and mammals that call the Trust home. We’ve planned lots of fun activities for you to get involved with and discover more about biodiversity at the Trust, so you don’t need to be an expert already!
Join us on Saturday 26 June when alongside our normal daily activities, you can join in with the below activities at no extra cost:
|All day||Collect and ID sheet and practice your identification skills from the Trust Shop and keep a note of all the amazing species you spot throughout your visit. Make sure you check in with the team in the Investigation Station regularly to add species to the list they’ll be collecting.|
|10:30-11:30am||Discover moths and pollinators. Help us identify the species found in the moth trap that we’ll have left out overnight. We’ll also have plenty of information about how you can encourage pollinators into your garden.|
|12:15-2pm||Investigate bird boxes and bug hotels. We’ll be sharing all we’ve learnt about building bird boxes and bug hotels over many years so that you can create your own at home to encourage in the local birds and creepy crawlies!|
|3-3:45pm||Explore a magical underwater world of fascinating species as we discover the species of flora and fauna living in our ponds. We’ll also be sharing some handy tips of how you can build a wildlife pond of your own!|
Pre-booking your visit is essential (for members and non-members). To allow for social distancing at the Trust, we must restrict the number of visitors coming to the Trust. Please read this important information about visiting the Trust before you book.
