Sound can be epic. The explosive eruption of Krakatoa in 1883 could be heard over 3,000 miles away. The Saturn V Rocket was recorded to produce sounds as loud as 204 decibels. And even your vacuum cleaner can reach up to 90 decibels. But can we control sound?
Sound is set to get awesome this autumn with the new live science show, Acoustic Explorers. The final show in our 2021 Year of Sound is one not to be missed.
From Saturday 25 September to Sunday 21 November put your investigation skills to the test and become an Acoustic Explorer. Take an adventure through some epic sounds and find out what an acoustic engineer does. Discover what reverberation is and how we can use it to control sound. And watch as this all comes to life with some scientific smoke and mirrors.
And, of course, if the sound is epic, you can be sure the science demos will be too. There’ll be awesome live demos and fun audience participation. And we’ll be finishing off our Year of Sound with the mind-blowing, light-bending laser harp.
