This Summer Butser Ancient Farm is planning an action packed programme of activities to suit the whole family. Kicking off with a Festival of Archaeology event on the 24th July, themed days throughout the holidays will explore ancient skills, traditional arts and crafts, archaeology, animals and storytelling.
Take part in a time traveller trail and learn some of the ancient skills you’d need if you suddenly found yourself travelling thousands of years into the past! Over the summer holidays, visitors will be able to pick up different skills and knowledge amongst Butser’s Stone Age dwellings, Iron Age roundhouses, Roman villa and Saxon homes – the perfect training ground for the inquisitive time wonderer to practice! Learn about what to wear and eat, how to make money and build a home and how to make some ancient friends along the way!
The ever popular Warrior Camps will also return for 2019 – a great school holiday club for children aged between 8 and 14. In the weeks commencing the 22nd and 29th July children can join the farm to learn survival and teamwork skills and spend practical time outdoors learning everything from shelter and raft building to firelighting and campfire cooking. Book for individual days or book for the whole week and get one day free! Sessions run between 10am and 4pm with extra hours also available.
More details of all activities, dates and timings can be found on the Butser website; www.butserancientfarm.co.uk or by calling 02392 598838.
