Another National Theatre Live screening

Theatre Royal Winchester’s next National Theatre Live screening is
The Motive and the Cue about a warring director and actor on Saturday 06 April.

The Motive and the Cue is set in 1964, actor Richard Burton is newly married to screen starlet Elizabeth Taylor, and is due to play the title role in an experimental new Broadway production of Hamlet under the direction of John Gielgud. But, during rehearsals, the actor and director’s collaboration threatens to unravel.

This fierce new play by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Wonder, His Dark Materials) is directed by Sam Mendes (1917, Spectre, Road to Perdition) and stars Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, The League of Gentlemen) as Gielgud and Johnny Flynn (Operation Mincemeat, Lovesick) as Burton. The Evening Standard’s award-winning new play, it was filmed live during a sold-out run at the National Theatre.

The screening has a certification of 15 meaning anyone under the age of 15 will not be admitted.
