The return of the popular Day Out With Thomas at the Watercress Line promises to bring the family fun back to Hampshire’s much-beloved railway after the months of being unable to run services, due to Covid-19 restrictions.
After the lockdown is lifted, families can join Thomas & Friends from Saturday 29th May until Sunday 6th June for nine days of steam-powered activities throughout the school half-term break.
Get on board for a fantastic train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine and youngsters can look forward to brand new live entertainment with Sodor Station Sweepers Rusty & Dusty, The Fat Controller, Diesel, Toad and – new this year – Duck.
Other activities include unlimited rides on the miniature railway; vintage fairground rides; and activities in the Passport to Adventure and don’t forget to collect your certificate.
The rides will take place this year from Ropley station only, rather than Alresford and Alton, as part of the COVID-safe measures to keep everybody safe.
Passengers can take one big train ride from Ropley to Alton and back, plus a train ride behind Thomas, which has been extended this year. There’s a day full of fun to be enjoyed.
The railway’s general manager Simon Baggott said “I’m so pleased that we can welcome back Thomas & Friends this May, after being closed due to the pandemic for the early part of the year. His arrival is always such a joyful experience for everyone at the railway.
“We’re looking forward to all the children and families visiting us and thoroughly enjoying a Day Out With Thomas. With new Thomas & Friends-themed attractions this year, Rusty & Dusty and The Fat Controller joining the fun, it promises to be an excellent day for all the family.”
Tickets go on sale on 15th March 2021. All activities and rides are included in the ticket price, which starts from £35 for two, and £65 for four people. Seats for both train rides must be booked ahead of time to keep within the COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Thomas & Friends will also be returning during the summer from Saturday 7th August to Sunday 15th August 2021.
Other dates for the diary at The Watercress Line, including galas and other activities, can be found on the railway’s website www.watercressline.co.uk. All planned activities may be subject to further government restrictions, so please visit the website for details.
