Museum of Army Flying

Flying Soldiers! The army in the air from early balloons to attack helicopters!

This award winning Museum situated right alongside the Army Air Corps’ busy working airfield at Middle Wallop, is home to a national collection of military kites, World War 2 gliders and over 35 historic fixed wing and rotary aircraft which, along with  imaginative displays and dioramas, traces the development of army flying.. Plus 2 flying simulators – one for the Apache  - a replica 1940’s house, cinema,  rifle ranges, shop, licensed café, large grassed picnic space and plenty of free parking for coaches and cars.  Available for private hire.

The Hawk Conservancy Trust

The Hawk Conservancy Trust, near Andover, is a charity that has for many years worked in the fields of conservation, education, rehabilitation and the research of birds of prey, both in the UK and overseas.
 
The Trust is set in 22 acres of woodland and wild flower meadow, where there are over 150 birds of prey on view, daily flying demonstrations, activities and entertainment. Allow at least half a day for your visit as there is so much to see and do.
 
There is a Coffee Shop, Trust Shop, and also ample free parking, with designated disabled spaces.

Longdown Activity Farm

Family Fun at the Farm

Longdown Activity Farm is perfect for a family day out. The daily timetable is packed with fun activities, which run throughout the day.  Have a go at bottle-feeding a kid goat or cuddle a baby rabbit. There are lots of other animals to see too.  

There are plenty of indoor and outdoor play areas for the children to let off steam. A soft play area, lots of trampolines, a huge straw barn or the NEW toddler interactive play area means that whatever the weather – there’s always something to do.  Don’t miss the bumpy tractor ride! (weather permitting).

Opening times: 13th February to 31st October 2010, Daily - 10am - 5pm
Plus weekends in November and December
Then daily 11th to 24th December 2010.

Buckler's Hard

Situated on the banks of the Beaulieu River, in the heart of the New Forest, you’ll find the unique and picturesque village of Buckler’s Hard where warships for Nelson’s navy were built.

The Buckler’s Hard story tells the fascinating history of this unique village from its origins as a port for importing sugar cane from the West Indies in the 18th century to its ship building heritage in the 19th century and the role of the Beaulieu River during the Second World War.

There are also historic cottage displays to explore, and a river bank walk and river cruise to enjoy.

Open every day from 10am-5pm March to June, 10am-5.30pm July to August, 10am-5pm September to October, 10am-4.30pm November to February (closed Christmas Day).
Last admission to the museum 30 minutes prior to closing.

Gilbert White’s House & Garden and The Oates Collection

Enjoy the tranquillity of the18th century country home of the Rev. Gilbert White (1720-1793) which is in the heart of the picturesque Hampshire village of Selborne.  The author of the world famous ‘Natural History of Selborne’, an ecologist, founding father of modern biological recording, inspiration to Darwin and a  keen and experimental gardener, his home is set in magnificent parkland, with gardens that have been largely restored to their 18th century form with elements he described and plants of his time displayed in ‘Six Quarters’.

The house is also home to The Oates Collection, which includes a permanent Antarctic exhibition commemorating Captain Lawrence Oates, who heroically lost his life on Scott’s Tera Nova expedition to the South Pole in 1912, and other notable Oates family adventurers.

New Forest Activities offers you great activities for the whole family, based in the heart of the New Forest.

New Forest Centre

Set in the heart of the National Park in Lyndhurst, you’ll find the New Forest Centre.  This houses a fascinating Museum, Visitor Information Centre, Gift Shop, Library and free Exhibition Gallery with an ever changing programme of Forest related exhibitions.  The friendly staff can answer all your questions about the New Forest and how to best enjoy it.   The place is full of information and fun activities including the giant Family Fun Tree set in the heart of the Museum.

The New Forest Centre is the perfect way to start and finish your visit to the New Forest National Park.
