Spinnaker Tower Opens Late for Night Owls and Breathtaking Sunsets! PDF Print E-mail

Throughout August, the Spinnaker Tower is extending its opening hours to allow as many people as possible a glimpse at the sparkling Portsmouth cityscape and panoramic waterfront surroundings from on high.

Normally the landmark visitor attraction is only open late on Saturdays during certain peak periods but during August it is open from 10am to 10pm daily, allowing more visitors and workers to enjoy a visit to the 170m high icon.

Prospective visitors are advised that they will see a very different perspective with the glowing city and waterfront lights all around and that if they arrive in time, the sunset from 100 metres up can be simply stunning.

The sun is due to set at the exact location of the Spinnaker Tower between 19:52 and 20:50 (British Summer Time) throughout August and can produce some magical effects. In addition, dusk begins at between 20:25 and 21:28 (BST). At this time objects are distinguishable by natural light but some stars and planets can also be visible to the naked eye at the same time.

Heather Deeley, Marketing Manager at the city's icon, commented: "We should all try to make the most of our evenings while we still can as we are already officially just past half way through summer! The Spinnaker Tower is the perfect way to wind down after a day's hard work by taking in the city's atmosphere as it begins to light up the evening skyline, you can get some absolutely amazing photographic shots!"

The Spinnaker Tower is open daily from 10am (excluding Christmas Day). See www.spinnakertower.co.uk or call 02392 857520 to book in advance or to find out more!
