Journey around the world this Summer at the Tower Café/Bar This summer the Spinnaker Tower Café/Bar in Portsmouth will be inviting visitors to join in on a ‘Journey Around the World’, as each week the Tower Café/Bar adopts a different worldwide location with themed drinks, food and lively entertainment. The Tower Café/Bar is located at the bottom of the incredible 170m tall viewing Tower and offers fantastic views of Portsmouth Harbour for both visitors to the Tower and member of the general public alike.  With its fantastic waterfront location it offers the perfect location for lazy summer evenings with a variety of drinks, food and entertainment available, making it the place to see and be seen! From Sunday 1st July through to Saturday 1st September the Tower Café/Bar will journey to a different location each week with a variety of drinks, food and entertainment on hand to enable visitors to be transported to all corners of the globe.  Kicking off the themed weeks will be British Week, celebrating all things associated with the British summertime including Pimms and lemonade, London Pride, strawberry tarts and traditional tea and biscuits.  In addition the Tower Bar will be screening Wimbledon on the plasma screen and a Brit Pop DJ will be in residence on Friday 6th July, playing a host of Brit Pop classics from the likes of Blur, Oasis and Pulp. Other countries providing themes for the eight weeks of summer include, French Week from 8th July with beret wearing bar staff, mini baguettes and canapés on offer, plus an accordion player on Friday 13th July.  Italian week runs from 15th to 21st July and will offer visitors chilled bottled Peroni, fine Italian wines, pizzas and tiramisu.  Classic Italian entertainment will be in the form of light opera on the evening of Friday 20th July. A steel pan player will lead the entertainment during Caribbean Week and there will colourful Caribbean style fare on offer between 22nd and 28th July. A flamenco dancer accompanied by acoustic guitar players will be performing during Spanish week with tapas, rioja, sangria and San Miguel available to help transform the Tower Bar into a mini Spanish colony for the week from 29th July.  Kung Fu and Chinese kick boxing displays will be the high octane entertainment available during Chinese week, complete with green tea, Tiger beer, duck pancakes and fortune cookies.  From 12th August the Tower Bar will be going ‘Down Under’ with a didgeridoo player and drummer, together with summer barbeque food for visitors to enjoy. The spirit of Latin America will arrive for the penultimate themed week from 19th August, with vibrant Latino dancing of the cha cha, rumba and jive. Rounding off Journeys Around the World will be USA week with the stars and stripes decorating the Café Bar and Californian wines and Budweiser on offer along with a USA quiz night on Tuesday 28th August and American style burgers to round off the week. As an additional offer for the summer, the Spinnaker Tower is also expanding the Café/Bar with the addition a brand new bar on the Roof Terrace, opening in late July.  The space above the current café bar and below the iconic 170m tall Tower will provide the stunning location for ‘The Terrace Bar’, from which visitors can enjoy elevated views of the harbour and waterfront.   The events at the Tower Café/Bar are just the start of a fun packed summer at the Spinnaker Tower which will see a host of family friendly activities taking place as well as the opportunity to witness some of the most incredible views and seascapes in the world from each of the three glass encapsulated View Deck - making the Tower a ‘must-see’ attraction for locals and visitors to Portsmouth this summer.
