INTECH family science centre & Planetarium, near Winchester is an under cover, all-weather visitor attraction and education centre. There are 80 hands-on interactive science and technology exhibits, ideal for the child aged 5-12. The Planetarium is the largest in the UK with 176 seats.

The Science Centre: Grandparents, parents, and children participate together with these interactive exhibits, making this a special kind of visit.

So what are these 80 interactive exhibits? Well for example there is the tornado spiral that is created by using white smoke and controlling the heat and cross winds. Suddenly after adjusting the controls, a 2 metre high spout appears before you demonstrating you have created the right conditions. Or you could fly a plane into Southampton airport on the simulator devised by Southampton University. After a scary landing you could move onto something more basic like building an arch bridge out of blocks. If you have the right pieces in place, the bridge will be strong enough to carry your weight. There are many more exhibits on the body, weather, streamlining, microscopes etc. Come and see for yourself.

Each school holiday there is a programme of holiday activities .

INTECH can also host birthday parties. Details of menus and prices can be found by clicking on here.

Planetarium uses state of the art digital simulation . This is ‘immersive theatre’, so-called because the screen is so huge it covers the ceiling and sides of the dome. It seems as if the viewer is floating amongst the planets, asteroids and galaxies. The experience is enhanced by reclining seats and a powerful 3,500watt surround-sound system.

A show last 25 minutes and times can be found by clicking on here. The shows are Black Holes, Cosmic Journeys, Astronaut, We are Astronomers. There is no seperate admission to the Planetarium and no advanced bookings (except group parties).

Group bookings can be made on 01962 891915.

Please be advised that in school holidays combined with wet weather INTECH is extremely busy. An early arrival (10 -11am) or a later one (1pm -2pm) is advised.

Easy access from M3 or A31.
Open every day (except 24, 25 & 26 December) 10am - 4pm
