The first and finest of all 13th century halls, and home to the greatest symbol of medieval mythology, ‘King Arthur's Round Table’. The Great Hall was built between 1222 and 1235 on the site of William the Conqueror's original castle in Winchester.
The table was constructed in the late 13th century, and painted in its present form for King Henry VIII. It has been venerated by centuries, as the mysterious round table of the legendary King Arthur and his knights.
Free admission (suggested donation £2 per head, or £1 per head for group bookings). Open all year round, 10am to 5pm (except Christmas and Boxing day)
