Mottisfont is a lovely old house set in glorious grounds by the River Test. A medieval priory that was gradually changed into a comfortable country house, it’s now a great place to come to relax, have a breath of fresh air and see something different.

Great for families – you can run, play and picnic anywhere, climb trees and let off steam. There are free trails for kids, and special events and activities during the holidays.

Gorgeous gardens – carpets of spring bulbs, world-famous roses, rich autumn colour and a developing winter garden, along with fine old trees and a lovely river walk.

Fascinating house – explore everything from the medieval wine cellar to a drawing room designed to trick the eye.

Intriguing art - from illustration and photography to sculpture and fashion. Maud Russell invited artists here to make art and enjoy long weekend parties from the 1930s onwards. We’re now bringing artists back to create different things to see all year round, both in the Gallery on the top floor of the house, and around the grounds.

Easy to get to from the M27 – follow signs to Romsey and then to Mottisfont.
